Why Recovery Golf Life donates to Mental Health & Recovery Causes

Recovery is Real and Mental Health Matters.
We appreciate you all for taking a minute to read up on why Recovery Golf Life gives back a percentage of all proceeds to grassroots mental health and recovery causes.
My name is Aaron and I am the founder of RecoveryGolfLife.com
I am also a person in long term recovery, which to me means I haven't had a drink or drug since September of 2003. I have been employed in nonprofit work since I was 18 years old (I just turned 45! yikers!) so giving back to the community is important to me.
Addiction Recovery and Mental Health Wellness organizations are wildly underfunded in comparison to other health conditions. Especially the community based grassroots type of organizations that are actually doing the work on the ground level in reversing overdoses, doing direct outreach, and providing peer to peer support. It simply is not on par (initially pun not intended but now it totally is) with how we treat, research, and invest in solutions.
Not only are these life saving services underfunded, they are actually being cut on the state and federal level. We are seeing cuts to addiction services, hospitals, overdose prevention, mental health in schools and in communities, suicide prevention, educational programs, prevention and harm reduction efforts.
Those cuts have a ripple effect across the recovery and mental health community. Another important note on this is when you have a lot of different nonprofits competing for the same pot of $$$ (crumbs) it creates divide and tension between organizations that all want to make a difference.
If addiction and mental health were invested in the way that cancer or HIV were invested in you would see that overdose rate curb significantly and see the increase in connection and access to care.
This is exactly why Recovery Golf Life donates a percent of proceeds back to nonprofit causes. It may seem like a drop in the bucket considering the amount of dollars these organizations need but it is a step in the right direction and everything adds up in times that are challenging for the nonprofits world. I have seen too many good people in this space have to cut down on hours or positions of need within their organization because relying on grants and donations is a difficult task.
With all of this in mind, take a second to consider donating directly to mental health and addiction recovery nonprofit causes in your yearly giving or make a purchase at www.RecoveryGolfLife.com for unique sobriety and recovery gifts and apparel that reduce stigma in the community (and the golf course!) knowing that we support those grassroots organizations that are truly making an impact. Stay tuned to the Coffee & Birdies Blog for nonprofit spotlights that we support!
Appreciate you all!
